More than 100 civilian, coalition and Afghan force leaders listen to ISAF Joint Command commanding general, Lt. Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti, Nov. 9, during the IJC Stability Conference at Kabul International Airport. The two-day conference synchronizes coalition and Afghan efforts in governance and development in order to increase stability in the country as the Afghan government, and its forces, continue to take the lead. “There is a lot of experience here, both coalition and Afghan, that will help us reach our goal,” said Scaparrotti. “We have a lot of momentum right now. There’s a lot to be done, and we have to maintain that same momentum in governance and development ... We are often energized about our jobs, and now we have to be just as energized about handing over [to the Afghans]. We have to care about how it gets done."
