    Visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) team members Sonar Technician (Surface) 2nd Class Kim Ditzel (left) and Boatswain's Mate 1st Class Jared Klevens, assigned to the guided-missile destroyer USS Preble (DDG 88), watch as their rigid hull inflatable boat approaches an international oil tanker in the Persian Gulf while conducting interaction patrols (IPATS). IPATS are an element of maritime operations and are conducted in Iraqi territorial waters so that commercial shipping and fishing can occur safely in the region. Preble, as part of the John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group, is conducting maritime operations in the Persian Gulf.
