    Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island Commanding General Brig. Gen. James Glynn cuts the first piece of cake as part of a Marine Corps Birthday tradition during a pageant Nov. 7, 2018, on Parris Island, S.C. The first piece of cake is given to the oldest Marine present and then handed down to the youngest as a symbol of passing on traditions and history of the Marine Corps.
