Sgts. Craig Flanigan and Brent Cavin, both with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 268 (Reinforced), eat ice cream during a social aboard USS Makin Island Nov. 19. Flanigan, a 22-year-old from St. Louis, is an aviation technician and Cavin, a 24-year-old from Salisbury, N.C., is an aviation supervisor with the squadron. The squadron is the aviation combat element with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, which embarked USS Makin Island, USS New Orleans and USS Pearl Harbor in San Diego Nov. 14 beginning a seven-month deployment to the western Pacific and Middle East regions.
