This column includes the representation of a rattlesnake, a symbol of the unit’s origins during World War I as the 369th Infantry Regiment. The unit nickname was the “Black rattlers.” The Soldiers marked their return to the Harlem Armory after a four-year renovation project November 10, 2018. The 369th traces its roots back to its service in World War I as the Harlem Hellfighters, the 369th Infantry Regiment.
