Members of the Michigan National Guard celebrated the 100th anniversary of Latvian independence with friends and colleagues in the National Armed Forces of Latvia, Riga, Latvia, Nov. 18, 2018. Michigan and Latvia have been aligned under the U.S. National Guard Bureau's State Partnership Program since 1993. The day included a ceremonial wreath laying at the foot of Riga's Freedom Monument, attended by dignitaries including Lt. Gen. (ret.)
