Matthew Smidt, commanding officer of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance (DDG 111), observes from the pilot house while in formation with the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay (CG 53), left, and the Nimitz-class aircraft carriers USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) and USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). John C. Stennis, Ronald Reagan, Mobile Bay and Spruance are underway and conducting operations in international waters as part of a dual carrier strike force exercise. The U.S. Navy has patrolled the Indo-Pacific region routinely for more than 70 years promoting regional security, stability and prosperity.
