Jared Wahkinney, a Comanche dancer from Oklahoma, is shown in his dancer regalia during the Fort McCoy observance of National American Indian Month/Native American Heritage Month on Nov. 15, 2018, at Fort McCoy, Wis. Dozens of people attended the event. Wahkinney said the garments he was wearing were not a costume because he wasn’t trying to pretend to be someone else.
