Museum educators Zach Smyers and Joseph Miechle are pictured delivering a walk up hands on history exhibit at the Hampton Roads Naval Museum. Their exhibit showcased the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) uniforms and their contributions during WWII, and the specifics of a Fletcher Class Destroyer and its armament of naval deck guns. The museum incorporates Hands on History exhibits in its gallery on a rotating basis. The museum also has free educational programs for military commands in the area and public schools; to inquire, contact their Educational Director at Laura.L.Orr@navy.mil or at (757) 322-3108.
