On display in the gallery of the Hampton Roads Naval Museum is a detailed builder’s model of the USS Maine (ACR 1). Maine was gain national attention when she exploded suddenly on February 15, 1898 while in Havana Harbor, Cuba. In-front of the model is a detailed LEGO model of the same ship. The LEGO model of the Maine is one of over 200+ LEGO ship models that visitors are able to build, free of charge at next years 8th Annual LEGO Brick by Brick shipbuilding event. The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 10am to 4pm at the Decker Half Moone Cruise Terminal, located next door to the museum.
