Camp Atterbury Railhead received large shipments of equipment used at JRTC in Fort Polk, Louisiana. The Atterbury Rail Deployment Facility (ARDF) or "Camp Atterbury Railhead" is capable of receiving or deploying a brigade in 72 hours or less. The Railhead and other transportation assets, including line haul ramps and staging areas, are available to all entities training or mobilizing at Atterbury. The Railhead allows quick reaction in the event of natural disasters or other emergencies that require immediate response. It is a cost-effective, efficient resource for the military and one of the most economical ways to transport large equipment and personnel. The Railhead is a critical factor in the Indiana National Guard’s ability to support the range of military operations to achieve Army readiness, and to meet any mission, anytime, anywhere in the world.
