Staff Sgt.'s Melissa Cortez, Misty L. Capanas and Lauren W. Carter listen to 177th Fighter Wing Command Chief Master Sgt. Raynaldo Morales during the 177th's Hometown Heroes Ceremony, June 13, 2010. The 177th Fighter Wing, New Jersey Air National Guard held a Hometown Heroes Salute honoring more than 450 of New Jersey's citizen-airmen. The airmen recognized in this ceremony included those who deployed for more than 30 consecutive days in support of Operation's Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, Noble Eagle and other peacekeeping operations across the globe since Sept. 11, 2001. The purpose of this program is to celebrate and honor the significant contributions of the airmen, their families, communities and those special supporters to the mission of the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard. As a result, it is one of the ANG's largest recognition endeavors in history.
