U.S. Army Reserve Public Affairs Staff Sgt. Christopher J. Sofia with the 78th Training Division, 84th Training Command based in Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., took the opportunity to trade his camera for an M2 machine gun while conducting crew-served weapons training during Operation Cold Steel III, hosted by the U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operation Command at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., Nov. 18, 2018. Operation Cold Steel is the U.S. Army Reserve’s crew-served weapons qualification and validation exercise to ensure America’s Army Reserve units and Soldiers are trained and ready to deploy on short-notice as part of Ready Force X and bring combat-ready and lethal firepower in support of the Army and our joint partners anywhere in the world.
