Marines of 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, from Camp Pendleton, Calif., go through a customs inspection as they arrive and become the new Battalion Landing Team of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, Dec. 4. The battalion is now the new ground combat element for the 31st MEU, and is scheduled to embark aboard ships of Amphibious Squadron 11 for deployment in support of Theater Security Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. The 31st MEU is America’s force in readiness in the Asia-Pacific region and the only continually forward-deployed MEU.
