Matt Reuter, of Fountaintown, Ind., a mechanic at Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center's Unit Training Equipment Site, extracts the solenoid firing pin from the 105 mm cannon on an M1 Abrams tank being decommissioned for inclusion at Camp Atterbury Veterans Memorial, Nov. 1. The process of decommissioning the tank will render it totally inert and not able to be put back in service.
