PACIFIC OCEAN (June 23, 2018)Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Equipment) Airman Michael Ryneer, from Redmond, Oregon, heats up a terminal on a new arresting gear wire, one of the steps to replace arresting gear wires aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). Arresting gear wires are replaced every 125 traps to prevent structural damage. John C. Stennis is underway preparing for its next scheduled deployment.
