Capt. Jesse Pope, right, the lead Task Force Spartan training and exercise (TREX) planner for exercises with Kuwait, visits with Capt. Abdulaziz N Al-Nassr, of the Qatari Emiri Land Forces, Dec. 18 at Kuwait Land Forces’ 35th Brigade headquarters in Kuwait. Representatives and exercise planners of the Kuwait Land Forces, Qatari Emiri Land Forces and U.S. Army convened to network, conduct training site surveys and discuss planning considerations for an upcoming military exercise. Kuwait has invited U.S. Soldiers of Task Force Spartan to participate in Desert Leopard, a trilateral training exercise led by Kuwait and set to include Qatari forces. Task Force Spartan, operating throughout the Middle East, increases military readiness and capability, in order to maintain regional stability and expand regional partnerships. Additionally, the task force and coalition partners conduct security operations within the region, enabling land forces to quickly build combat power through multiple mobility options in times of crisis. As a TREX planner, Pope contributes to Task Force Spartan’s mission by planning and coordinating U.S. logistics and personnel needs for a number of exercises, training events, seminars and engagements designed to strengthen defense relationships and enhance military readiness with our partners in the region.
