An SA 330 Puma returns to the Military Sealift Command dry-cargo and ammunition ship USNS Alan Shepard with cargo nets concluding a vertical replenishment with the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island. Makin Island is on its first operational deployment conducting operations in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility. Makin Island is the Navy's newest amphibious assault ship and the only U.S. Navy ship with a hybrid electric propulsion system.
