Marines with 1st Marine Aircraft Wing stand in formation as Maj. Gen. Thomas D. Weidley, commanding general of 1st MAW, addresses them after a formation run at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 2, 2019. Over 1,000 Marines and Sailors attended a 3 mile run around the air station flight line in order to review, refocus and recommit Marines to the mission for the new year. As the aviation combat element of III Marine Expeditionary Force, 1st MAW Marines and Sailors must have the physical and mental endurance to advance in environments of extreme hardship, complexity, and pressure to perform. Motivational run's prepare 1st MAW service members to remain healthy and sustain the criteria for deployment, retention, and continued military service. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl.
