U.S. Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 373, Marine Wing Support Group (MWSG) 37, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), weigh themselves with their equipment prior to departure to Catalina Island from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., Jan. 2. Weight of equipment and personnel impacts flight planning and is necessary to achieve operational excellence in troop movements. 3rd MAW and the Catalina Island Conservancy are partnered through the Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) program, which offers Marines to conduct applicable training while addressing community needs.
