EAST CHINA SEA (Jan. 12, 2019) Flight deck crew members aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) prepare an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter, assigned to the Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 25 "Island Knights” for flight during a cooperative deployment with Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force amphibious transport dock ship JS Kunisaki (LST 4003). Wasp, flagship of Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, is operating in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
