U.S. Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Benjamin T. Watson, Commanding General of Marine Corps Installations East- Camp Lejeune, inspects a barracks building that sustained damage during Hurricane Florence during his initial command visit to Marine Corps Air Station New River, Jan. 11, 2019. Watson assumed command of MCIEAST-MCB Camp Lejeune on December 18, 2018 and conducted a first-time visit as commanding general to several other major installations that comprise MCIEAST. The mission of MCIEAST is to command and control assigned Marine Corps installations to support the operating forces, tenant commands, military personnel and families.
