Staff Sgt. Michelle King, Emergency Manager for the 127th Civil Engineer Squadron, Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., displays the new M-50 Joint Service General Purpose gas mask, Dec. 3, 2011. The mask will begin to be issued to all 127th Wing airmen starting in January 2012. The new mask has enhanced features such as: lighter weight, larger field of vision, 24 hours of chemical and biological agents protection, self-sealing valve for filter exchange in a contaminated environment, breathing resistance reduction, improved drinking system, extended beard, modular lightweight load-carrying equipment compatible carrier and a service life indicator.
