Airmen from the 191st Maintenance Squadron examine one of the intermediate steps during the process of applying a new paint scheme to a KC-135 Stratotanker at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., Dec. 13, 2011. The aircraft was painted with a checkerboard stripe that honors both the heritage of the Michigan Air National Guard and the former Strategic Air Command, which once operated at Selfridge.
