190116-N-KT659-1011 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Jan. 17, 2019) Vice Adm. Richard Snyder, the naval inspector general, meets with Patrol Squadron (VP) 46 leadership as they report on mission capability and readiness. This deployment marks the last time VP-46 will deploy with the Navy’s historic P-3C Orion anti-submarine warfare patrol aircraft. VP-46 is currently deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet and U.S. 7th Fleet areas of operations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. While in this region, VP-46 is supporting naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
