190117-N-PP252-114 (Jan. 17, 2019) HAMPTON, Va. - Chief Sonar Technician (Surface) Scott Petersen (center) looks on as the flag detail passes the flag during his retirement ceremony Quesada Hall on Langley Air Force Base. Peterson concluded his Navy career on board the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73). George Washington is undergoing refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a nearly four-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling of the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repair, upgrades and modernization.
