Cpl. Hector Guereca and Lance Cpl. Corey Hutchings, motor transport operators with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, chain shipping containers to a 7-ton truck aboard the dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48), Philippine Sea, Jan. 31, 2019. Guereca, a native of San Antonio, graduated from Marshall High School in June 2014 before enlisting in January 2017. Hutchings, a native of Bradford, Pennsylvania, graduated from Bradford High School in June 2016 before enlisting in December the same year. CLB-31 provides security, logistics, transportation, and HADR support as the Logistics Combat Element for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU partnering with the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
