Accession #2019-001. Uniform, Master Chief Petty Officer. The dress mess blue uniform belonging to Master Chief Petty Officer Stan White is on display in the Cold War gallery of the Hampton Roads Naval Museum. MC White was aboard the Belmont-Class Technical Research Ship USS Liberty (AGTR 5) when the ship was attacked and seriously damaged by Israeli air and surface forces while operating off the Sinai Peninsula on 8 June 1967, during the Six-Day War. The uniform will remain in the museum’s Cold War Gallery until the area is revamped to make way for their upcoming new exhibit which chronicles the US Navy’s involvement in the Vietnam War, which is slated to open later in 2019. More information about the museum can be found at https://www.facebook.com/HRNavalMuseum/ (US Navy Photo by Max Lonzanida/Released).
