U.S. Army 1st Lt. Natalie Byrom, 1-151st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion Apache pilot and Alpha Company commander, was recognized Jan. 30, 2019, by her civilian employer with an award that highlights individuals who have demonstrated a winning spirit, resilience, and perseverance in life. Byrom was unaware of being chosen for the award as she was still deployed at the time of the awards ceremony in 2018. She planned a presentation to Boston Scientific of an American flag that had been flown over Afghanistan, when her employer surprised her with the E12 award. (Courtesy photo)
