    31st Marine Expeditionary Unit       

    1st Lt. Forest Light is a semi-annual exercise conducted by U.S. Marines and members of the Japan Self-Defense Force in order to strengthen interoperability and combined capabilities in defense of the U.S.-Japan alliance. The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU partnering with the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
