Staff Sgt. Curtis Miller, 321st Contingency Response Squadron aerial porter, laughs during Exercise Crescent Moon Feb. 12, 2019, at North Auxiliary Airfield in North, S.C. Exercise Crescent Moon is an annual training event aimed at maintaining the readiness of Transportation Command and Air Mobility Command contingency response efforts. The 621st Contingency Response Wing specializes in rapidly deploying personnel to establish, expand and sustain air mobility operations. From wartime operations to disaster relief, the 621st CRW extends Air Mobility Command's ability to deploy people and equipment around the world. In the aftermath of Hurricane Michael, which caused catastrophic damage to Tyndall Air Force Base in October 2018, various contingency response efforts similar to the ones practiced during exercise Crescent Moon were implemented to provide rapid humanitarian aid.
