190215-M-YD783-1192 U.S. ARABIAN SEA (Feb. 15, 2019) U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Benjamin Olson, a radio operator with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, assembles an AN/PRC-117G radio on the flight deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD-3). Marines with Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment disassembled and reassembled the radio in order to sharpen their skills for combat. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
