190214-M-YD783-1052 ARABIAN SEA (Feb. 14, 2019) U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Andrew Cook, a network transport technician with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, inspects the chains attached to an M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank in the well deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD-3). Marines aboard the Kearsarge perform additional task outside their traditional jobs to help facilitate the day-to-day functioning of the ship. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
