Jere Romano, post commander of the American Legion No. 283, Pacific Palisades, California, left, along with his wife, Martha, place a wreath by a cement plaque of Marvel Comic book creator Stan Lee’s signature during “Excelsior! A Celebration of the Amazing, Fantastic, Incredible and Uncanny Life of Stan Lee” Jan. 30 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California. The event was a memorial tribute to Lee, Marvel comic book writer, editor, publisher and co-creator, who died in November 2018. Lee was an Army veteran and former writer in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II.
