A 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew powers through a wave during surf training in Clatsop Spit near the entrance of the Columbia River to the Pacific Ocean, Feb. 15, 2019.

The entrance to the Columbia River is recognized as one of the best training grounds for rescue boat drivers because of its consistent rough sea conditions.
