U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command celebrated its 13th anniversary on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., Feb. 21, 2019. The anniversary event included a battle colors rededication ceremony to recognize some of the collective achievements by the service component. The commander, Maj. Gen. Daniel D. Yoo also awarded Marines and Sailors for their exemplary performance. Since the unit’s inception, Raiders, a name adopted in 2015 in recognition of their forbearers, have earned more than 300 valor awards and have found themselves in 17 countries to conduct more than 300 operational deployments, ranging from 14-man Marine Special Operations Teams, to Combined Joint Special Operations Task Forces overseeing American and coalition special operations forces; a scalable force, much like their conventional Marine brethren.
