Retired members of the Naval Special Warfare community, to include Rear Adm. George Worthington (center) and Rear Adm. Cathal “Irish” Flynn (right), came together during the 50th anniversary celebration held at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado to commemorate the Jan. 1, 1962, establishment of SEAL Teams 1 and 2. Over the course of 50 years, the SEAL Teams have grown from two teams with 20 officers and 100 enlisted to 10 teams with 600 officers and 1,900 enlisted sailors.
