MOUNT VERNON, Va. (Feb. 18, 2019)
Mass Communication Specialist Seaman Elizabeth Cohen, left, from Chelmsford, Massachusetts and Chief Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Equipment) David Hooker, discuss with visitors to Mount Vernon about the Navy. Sailors aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) George Washington traveled to Mount Vernon to participate in the 287th Birthday Ceremony at Mount Vernon. George Washington is undergoing refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a nearly four-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling of the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repair, upgrades and modernization.
