1st Sgt. Joseph McFarlane, the top non-commissioned officer in the 3rd Battalion, 5th Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army Division's Military Transition Team from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, loses at a game of "mercy" to a young Iraqi boy while checking out the end results of Operation Rogue Thunder in al Jamea'a, July 23. The operation was designed to root out suspected al-Qaida who had been placing deep-buried roadside bombs in the area, several of which claimed the lives of coalition forces who patrol the mostly-Sunni neighborhood.
