Margaret “Ma” Collier, head hostess at Fort Knox's Army Hostess and Librarian Service, sits at her desk. Collier was instrumental in bringing famous black entertainers to Fort Knox during and after World War II to improve the morale among segregated black Soldiers, and later to help improve the welfare of all Soldiers.
