Retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Jeremy Hardy hugs Dawn Goldfein, wife of Gen. David Goldfein, Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force, during the 2019 Spaatz Association Mid-Winter Dinner and Awards Gala for current and former members of the Civil Air Patrol, March 2, 2019, in Arlington, Virginia. Hardy is a former CAP cadet who went on to become a pararescue chief and was the team leader who, in 1999, helped rescue then-Lt. Col. Goldfein after his F-16 was shot down in Serbia. The event was the capstone of CAP's legislative week during which auxiliary airmen visited members of congress to present CAP’s annual report. (U.S. Air Force Auxiliary photo by Lt. Col.
