190307-M-YD783-1153 GULF OF OMAN (MARCH 7, 2019) U.S. Marine Cpl. Emilio Perez, a satellite operator with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, executes a cross body grip control tecnique on Cpl. David Lynam, a motor transport mechanic also with the 22nd MEU, as Marine Corps Martial Arts Program instructor Sgt. Michael Romero looks on in the well deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD-3). Sgt. Romero, a satellite operator with Combat Logistics Battalion 22, evaluated the Marines on their understanding and performance of gray and green belt MCMAP techniques. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
