Derek Shepard, from Walnut Creek, California, assigned to Port Security Unit 312 (PSU-312), fires his M4 carbine during shooting qualifications on Naval Base Ventura County during Pacific Blitz 2019 (PacBlitz19). Tactical crewmen and coxswains assigned to port security must maintain weapons proficiency to provide pier side and port defense and tactical support to moored naval vessels.
