SAN DIEGO (March 13, 2019) – Culinary Specialist 2nd Class Ayanda Sanders, from Monroe, La., and Religious Programs Specialist 2nd Class Derrius Tyler, from Griffin, Ga., assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), display their prizes after winning 1st and 2nd place in a free-throw basketball competition hosted by the ship’s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) at the Harborside Gym on Naval Base San Diego. MWR sponsors a wide variety of sporting events to promote health, fitness, and fun competition among Sailors.
