PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Mar. 16, 2019) Sailors from the nuclear-powered Los Angeles-class, fast-attack submarine USS Pittsburgh (SSN 720) march in Pittsburgh’s 149th St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Pittsburgh crewmembers are participating in various events around Pittsburgh to bring awareness to the U.S. Navy's mission. The Navy's fast-attack submarines are designed to seek and destroy enemy submarines and surface ships; deliver missiles and special operations forces ashore; conduct intelligence operations; and engage in mine warfare. Pittsburgh is the fourth Navy ship to be named for the city of Pittsburgh. (U.S. Navy photo by Lt. Joe Painter/Released)
