190314-N-FG909-0003 NORFOLK (March 14, 2019) The U.S. Navy’s ‘Stewards of the Sea: Defending Freedom, Protecting the Environment’ exhibit, which opened in 2013, highlights marine mammal research and shipboard environmental protection at Nauticus. The 1,000-square-foot educational and interactive exhibit is designed to increase public awareness and confidence in the Navy’s environmental stewardship efforts. The Navy employs every means every means available to mitigate the potential environmental effects of its activities without jeopardizing the safety of its Sailors or impacting fleet readiness.
