U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Edward Palacios, assigned to the Marine Corps Detachment, embarked aboard High Speed Vessel Swift, gives a range safety brief to Peruvian Marines from Batallon De Infanteria De Marina No. 1, at Zona De Entrenamiento weapons range, as part of HSV-Southern Partnership Station. The two Marine Corps will spend three weeks conducting subject matter expert exchanges and conducting practical exercises on areas that will include basic rifle marksmanship, patrolling in a desert environment, urban combat tactics and demolition techniques. HSV-SPS is an annual deployment of U.S. Navy ships and assets to the U.S. Southern Command's area of responsibility in the Caribbean, Central and South America.
