    II Marine Expeditionary Force

Sgt. Erik B. Martin, a 3rd Battalion, 2nd Regiment squad leader, instructs two Royal Marines of 42 Commando as they practice techniques from the U.S. Marine Corps Martial Arts Program aboard the USS Kearsarge Jan. 3. When the U.S. Marine Corps was formed in 1775, their Royal Marine counterparts were deadly enemies. Today, they find themselves often fighting side-by-side against terrorism.
