U.S. Air Force Maj. Jason Markzon, U.S. Air Force Thunderbird Demonstration Squadron advance pilot and narrator, enlists Air Force recruits during the 2019 Thunder and Lightning over Arizona air show at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., March 23, 2019. The Thunderbirds’ mission is to plan and present precision aerial maneuvers to exhibit the capabilities of modern, high-performance aircraft. Within this broad mission the team also has five primary objectives: support Air Force recruiting and retention programs, reinforce public confidence in the Air Force, strengthen morale and spirit de corps among Airmen, support Air Force community relations, and represent the Unitized States and its armed forces.
