A Marine with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and a service member with the Japan Self-Defense Force discuss the functions and capabilities of the Logistics Combat Element at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Mar. 21, 2019. The Amphibious Rapid Deployment Brigade Logistics Battalion supports the JSDF marine unit responsible for conducting amphibious operations. CLB-31 is the LCE of the 31st MEU which provides all elements of the MEU with combat service support. This training allowed for subject-matter exchange in logistics support for both units, which support forward-deployed amphibious operations. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a variety of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
